AZUSA, Calif. (Apr. 9) – The UCSB multis opened competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational, posting strong marks in the heptathlon and decathlon heading into day two.
HEPTATHLON
Bella Vally ends day one in first overall for section D, winning the 200m in 25.05, taking fourth in the 100m hurdles with 15.05, third in high jump with 1.65m, and third in shot put with a mark of 12.19m. Madison Rust also finished out the day strong as well, sitting in fourth overall. Rust delivered 16.25 in the 100m hurdles, 1.41m in the high jump, 10.52m in the shot put, and 25.18 in the 200m.
In section C, Hanna Barmettler currently sits seventh overall, while Amanda Eames is 10th heading into day two. Barmettler clocked in a 15.76 in the 100m hurdles, while Eames finished in 15.11. In the high jump, Barmettler cleared 1.56m with Eames right behind in 1.50m. Barmettler threw 10.11m in shot put, with Eames earning a mark of 9.37m. To finish out the day Eames finished fourth in the 200m with 25.56, with Barmetler following in 25.83.
Jess Mackeznie competed in section B of teh hepathlon, with a strong start of 13.88 in he 100m hurdles. In the long jump, Mackenzie secured a mark of 1.59m, and finished third in teh shot put with 12.98m. Mackenzie finished out the day with 25.66, sitting in fourth overall heading into tomorrow.
In section A, Ally Tito rounded out the day for UCSB. Tito crossed the line in 15.05 in the 100m hurdles, cleared 1.65m in the high jump, threw a mark of 8.87m in the shot put, and clocked a 25.94 in the 200m.
DECATHLON
Hudson Shaver represented the Gauchos in section C of the decathlon, rounding out day one second overall in the rankings. Shaver opened up the day with 11.42 in the 100m, 7.21m in the long jump, 15.18m in the shot put, 1.95m in the high jump, and 50.61 in the 400m to round out the day.

The multis will return to Bryan Clay for day two of heptathlon and decathlon to determine final scores and rankings, while the rest of the UCSB track and field team opens competition at Fullerton for the 31st annual Challenge Cup.
