FORT COLLINS, Colo. — UC Santa Barbara finished 12th at the Ram Masters Invitational, posting a three-round team total of 875 at Fort Collins Country Club. Jack Watters led Santa Barbara individually, tying for seventh at 211 (+1) after rounds of 70, 71 and 70.

"Truthfully I am a little dissatisfied with the way we played," said Massoletti. "After having such a great couple of weeks of qualifying and practice I felt like we were prepared to play well. Unfortunately we were undisciplined with our execution and were exposed with the firm greens and thick rough. It was not all was bad, Jack was a stud every round. He was always composed and kept himself on the correct side of the flag all week. Because of that he was in position to let his short game and wedge play keep him scoring well. Really happy to see his patience pay off for him."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the stroke-play event at Fort Collins Country Club, Santa Barbara posted rounds of 293, 290 and 292 to finish 12^th among 16 teams. Despite finishing in the same place a year ago, the Gauchos improved their team total by eight shots.
 
Jack Watters was Santa Barbara's top finisher, tying for seventh at one-over 211 with rounds of 70, 71 and 70. Andrea Birolini tied for 38th at nine-over 219, while Nick Waldock tied for 59th at 12-over 222 after closing with a two-over 72. Dylan Ma tied for 73rd at 15-over 225, and Zach Schwab tied for 77th at 16-over 226.
 
Watters carded even-par 70s in the first and third rounds. Birolini posted a 72 (+2) in the second round, and Waldock closed with a 72 (+2) in the final round.
 
UP NEXT
UC Santa Barbara will return to Colorado next weekend to compete in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by Air Force. The two-day event will run Saturday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 20. All rounds will be available to follow along at ucsbgauchos.com/LiveLeaderboard.
