LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team had its three-game winning streak ended on Sunday with a 7-0 loss to No. 1 ranked USC.  The Trojans won the doubles point and the proceeded to win all six singles tallies en roiute to the win.

The Gauchos (3-2) battled at No. 5 singles, stretching the match to three games. USC's Eric Johnson defeated UCSB's Ziad Sultan by a score of 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6).  All of the other singles contests were two-games.  

Three of the six USC singles players who recorded wins are ranked among the nation's top-50.  Daniel Nguyen, who topped Mathieu Forget 6-0, 6-1, is ranked No. 19.  Ray Sarmiento,who topped Benjamin Recknagel by a score of 6-3, 6-2, is ranked 18th nationally, and Emilio Gomez,who topped Greg Scott by a 6-1, 6-2 tally is ranked 48th.

UCSB will return to action on Jan. 28 when it hosts crosstown opponent Westmont College in a 1:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center Courts.  The Gauchos will then travel to the Pacifc Northwest for matches at Oregon (Feb. 11 at 9:00 am) and at Washington (Feb. 12 at noon).
