IRVINE, Calif. – After another intense week of Big West Play, UC Santa Barbara's Gianluca Brunkow has earned his second weekly award of the season with two crucial singles victories to help the Gauchos remain at the peak of The Big West Standings.
 
Brunkow earned two straight-set victories in the No. 2 position for the Gauchos to keep the Gauchos perfect in Big West play. Brunkow clinched the match for the Gauchos against UC San Diego with a 6-2, 6-4 victory. In Santa Barbara's second match of the week against conference foe UC Irvine, Brunkow sparked a Gaucho comeback with a dominant performance on court two. After being down 3-1, Brunkow's win brought the Gaucho deficit to 3-2 and sparked the final two Gauchos to wins to earn a gritty 4-3 win and stay perfect in The Big West.
 
Brunkow and the Gauchos wrap up the regular season this week with two matches against UC Riverside and Cal Poly. UC Santa Barbara currently sits at 12-6 overall and 4-0 in Big West play. If the Gauchos win both matches they would claim the regular season title for The Big West and be the No. 1 seed in The Big West Championships.
