Andrews Sets School Record in 400m Hurdles at Mt. SAC

GOLETA, Calif. (Apr. 18) – UC Santa Barbara track and field carried its momentum into day two at the Mt. SAC Relays, Beach Invitational, and Bryan Clay Invitational, including a new school record in the 400m hurdles by Finn Andrews, and strong performances from the distance squad. 

MT SAC RELAYS
At Mt. SAC, Maddie Conte led the women's hurdles squad with a 13.73 finish in the invitational section of the 100m hurdles. On the men's side, Finn Andrews highlighted the weekend with a personal best and school record of 50.11 in the 400m hurdles to take third overall, while Mac Lamkin followed with a 52.83 performance.

BEACH INVITATIONAL
Competing at Long Beach State, the Gauchos saw several strong marks on the track. Parker Halgren paced the women's sprints with a 11.72 finish in the 100m and later added a 24.42 in the 200m, while Amor Jones followed closely in the 100m at 11.95. In the women's 400m, Kenna Bradley clocked 55.63, and Svea Wickelgren led the 800m group with a 2:13.55.

The hurdles group continued to shine, as Anna Josephson ran a personal best 1:00.70 in the 400m hurdles, with Layla Roslan also recording a PR in 1:01.59. Allison Tjoe competed in both hurdle events, finishing in 14.84 in the 100m hurdles and 1:03.72 in the 400m hurdles. On the men's side, Pryce Edwards posted a 14.55 mark in the 110m hurdles, while Denny Dong ran 49.89 in the 400m.

In the field, Kendal Handy delivered one of the top performances of the weekend with a personal best 7.13m in the men's long jump. Sydni Harden cleared 3.62m in the women's pole vault, while Dimitra Vitogiannis led the women's discus with a 46.42m throw. Kayla Yap added a 41.87m mark in the same event. In the throws for the men, Chris Nora posted 46.71m in discus, Emmanuel Fitzgerald threw 44.22m, and Nickolas Tamayo recorded 14.06m in the shot put.

BRYAN CLAY
The Gauchos distance squad delivered a strong showing in the 1500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational, highlighted by multiple personal best performances on the men's side. Manny Correia led the way with a personal record 3:48.80, followed closely by Parker Simmons in 3:50.67 and Zach Parker in 3:53.56, both also personal best efforts. Will Mulliken added another PR with a 3:56.73 finish, while Niall Monteleone crossed in 3:54.06 and Parker Herbert followed in 3:58.41. David Winston also contributed a solid performance, finishing in 3:58.83.

On the women's side, Sierra Gill paced the Gauchos with a 4:34.49 finish, while Isabel Ross (4:36.00) and Jordin Lieberman (4:36.14) added strong supporting performances in a tightly contested field.

The Gauchos will return next weekend for the last home meet of the season, and senior recognition.
